Manama: A Saudi Twitter user has become an instant sensation on the microblog site after several countries entered a delightful race to correct the wrong information he was posting.

It all started when Nawaf Osaim posted that Sweden is the only country in the world with no surveillance cameras.

“Did you know that in Sweden there are almost no surveillance cameras as crimes are almost non-existent? All recorded crimes are committed by mistake!” he tweeted in Arabic.

However, Sweden’s official account on Twitter in Arabic responded that the information was not true.

But Nawaf challenged the denial.

“What is your source?” he asked.

“You can see the cameras in public places all around you,” the Swedish account replied.

Nawaf offered his apology and added that, to correct the information, the state without surveillance cameras was Norway.

However, the Arabic account of Norway on Twitter promptly asked him to try another country.

Nawaf acquiesced and posted. “OK. Japan.”

Famous Egyptian comedian Mohammad Henedy joined in the conversation and in a typical line of his fun movies, he posted: “Say Egypt and we will not deny it.”

With the Egyptian superstar in the conversation, Norway saw a golden opportunity to invite him to make his next film in the Scandinavian country.

“Since you have reached us, Henedy, what do you think about making a movie on the Preikestolen and call it ‘The Great Wall of Norway’? Tom Cruise was here two weeks ago.”

The tweet included a picture of the breath-taking steep cliff rising 604 metres above the Lysefjorden, the fjord in south-western Norway.

Sweden jumped on the occasion and made its own amazing natural landscape site offer to Henedy.

“Good idea, or at the biggest waterfall Tannforsen in Sweden,” it tweeted.

As the delightful conversation continued, Nawaf could not resist an amusing ego trip.

“Now I have experienced the feelings of Adel Al Jubeir [Saudi Arabia’s savvy foreign minister]. Dealing with countries is really difficult,” he posted.
