Dubai: Six Saudi ministers have been relieved from their posts and eight new ministers have been appointed on the orders of King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, the official Saudi news agency reported.

As per royal orders, Dr Sulaiman Aba Al Khail has been appointed as Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance, replacing Shaikh Salah Al Shaikh. Dr Khalid Bin Abdullah Al Sabti will be the new Minister of Higher Education, replacing Dr Khalid Bin Mohammad Al Angari.

King Abdullah also ordered the appointment of Dr Mohammad Al Hayaza as the new Minister of Health. Adel Fakeih, Minister of Labour, previously served as the acting minister of health.

Dr Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Al Khudairi has been appointed as the Minister of Culture and Information, a position that was left vacant after Abdul Azizi Khoja was relieved.

Fahad Bin Mu’tad Bin Shafaq Al Hamad is the new Minister of Communications and Internet Technology, replacing Engineer Mohammad Jameel Ahmad Mulla.

Sulaiman Al Hamid is the new Minister of Social Affairs, replacing Dr Yousuf Othman.

Engineer Abdullah Al Muqbil has been appointed Minister of Transportation in place of Jabara Bin Eid Al Suraiseri.

Engineer Walid Al Khuraiji takes over from Dr Fahd Bal Ghunaim as Minister of Agriculture.

Essam Bin Saeed has been appointed as Minister of State, Cabinet member and Chairman of the Cabinet’s Experts Bureau.

Major General Sulaiman Abdullah Al Amri, Director General of Suaid Civil Defence, has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General.

Major General Othman Bin Nasser Al Mehrej, Director of Public Security, has also been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General.

All the outgoing ministers were reported to have requested to be relieved of their posts.
