Manama: King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud has ordered a house and a car for a Saudi man who lost his wife and six children in a horrific car accident last week.

Sami Bin Mohammad Al Nami has been in a state of shock since his family perished on Tuesday in the accident in which their car collided with a heavy truck on a poorly maintained road in southwestern Saudi Arabia.

A picture of a desperate Al Naimi sitting inside a mosque in front of the seven corpses ahead of the funeral prayers went viral on the social media, prompting greater sympathies and messages of consolation.

"I have lost seven lives in one moment," he said, wiping tears in his eyes, Saudi daily Okaz reported.

"Yahya was a 12th grade student, Mamdooh a 9th grade student, Hajer a sixth grade student, Rym who was in the fifth grade, Osama who started school this year, Sarra who was in the kindergarten and their mother. I have only one son left and I really do not know what to do."

The family was reportedly going home from an outing when the accident occurred. The two drivers survived the collision.

Residents angry

Residents expressed anger, blaming the road authorities for their lack of interest in maintaining it and arguing that several accidents had occurred in the area due to heavy movement by trucks carrying mountain rocks.

The residents said that they had filed numerous complaints about the poor state of the road, the absence of lights and the ominous presence of trucks.

They now look forward to better conditions and infrastructure following the special national attention generated by the tragic accident.
