Manama: Saudi Arabia on Monday executed a Filipino convicted of killing his Saudi employer.

The Filipino driver was sentenced to death after he fatally stabbed Saudi national Mohammad Bin Ebrahim Bin Mohammad Al Ayed in the chest.

Investigations concluded that the driver was guilty of the stabbing that resulted in the death, the interior ministry said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.

The ministry said that the execution had been decided by a court of law and that the verdict was endorsed by higher courts.

The statement did not mention when the stabbing occurred or when the ruling was issued, but it said that the execution had been delayed until the children of the Saudi national, who were minors at the time of the murder, reached the required age to decide alongside family members on the killer’s fate.

The ministry said the death sentence had been eventually endorsed by the concerned family members and that the highest court upheld the execution verdict.

According to the statement, the Filipino driver was executed in the capital Riyadh.
