Dubai: Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmad Al Khalifa has asked Qatar to change its negative attitudes and face the facts on the ground.
Commenting on the allegations made by Qatar’s minister of foreign affairs in his address at the 36th regular session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Monday, Shaikh Khalid said the language used by the Qatari official “does not suggest any desire to resolve Qatar’s crisis” and “that in fact, and unfortunately, it is merely a repeat of the same boring words.”

“Seeking compassion and engaging in tearful complaints will not help in any way, especially if there is no basis for it. What is required is a serious stance by Qatar in which it engages in introspection and self-examination before facing the others,” Shaikh Khalid posted to his more than 433,000 followers on his Twitter account.
“Yes, we do want a serious solution with guarantees and which meets our just demands and does not take us back. We do not want a solution à la ‘kiss and make up’ or ‘May God guide you!’
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain severed diplomatic and trade relations with Qatar on June 5 over Doha’s support to extremists and funding of terrorism.
The four countries presented a list of 13 demands and insisted that Qatar would have to meet them before they agree to sit down for a dialogue.
The Quartet said Qatar has been dodging the real issues in the dispute and focusing instead on securing support from other countries to put pressure on them and make them change their minds about their position.
