Manama: Bahrain’s Prime Minister Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa said that the remarkable stability in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries was mainly achieved thanks to the special relations and bonds between the leaders and their people.

“These are truly unique bonds that are rarely seen in other regions of the world, and there are no barriers between the leaders and their people, Prince Khalifa said.

“This is the secret for the stability we are enjoying with grace of God even though we are right in the middle of conflict-laden region,” the prime minister said as he received the ambassadors of Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the UAE to Bahrain.

Qatar is the sixth member of the GCC established in 1981, but Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE currently have no diplomatic relations with the peninsular state after they severed them on June 5 following accusations that Doha supported extremists and funding terrorism.

Prince Khalifa stressed that common stances and cooperation were the core of the alliance and that Saudi Arabia, the largest of the GCC countries, had a pivotal role within it.

“Our security and stability are an integral part of the security and stability of Saudi Arabia,” Prince Khalifa said, adding that the Saudi kingdom had, through tremendous efforts and great sacrifices, foiled numerous conspiracies targeting the GCC countries.

“Experiences have proven the GCC military capabilities have helped to fend off dangers and defeating enemies. We look forward to wider GCC meetings at various levels of responsibility to boost our ability to stave off conspiracies and threats, especially terrorism with its ideologists, sponsors and funders,” Prince Khalifa said.
