Muscat: Three people died on the spot and three others sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision on Saturday evening in Ibri, Royal Oman Police (ROP) said on Sunday.

The injured were rushed to Ibri Hospital.

According to ROP statistics, four people died in road accidents across the country over the past week. In all, 111 people were injured in 88 accidents during the period. The traffic fatalities, however, marked a decline over the week, police said.

Out of the four people killed in road crashes elsewhere, three died in an accident in Central Oman while one was killed in North Btinah.

The ROP have called on motorists to drive carefully, adhere to speed limits and avoid dangerous overtaking, especially on single carriage roads in the interior areas of the country.
