Muscat: Oman’s Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed presided over a meeting of the Council of Ministers at Hisn Al Shumoukh in Manah province, south west of capital Muscat, on Sunday.
The Omani ruler appeared in a good health in a video shown on state TV where he was holding talks with ministers.
During the meeting a number of ambassadors took oaths, reported (ONA).
The ambassadors are as follows: Shaikh Mohammed Bin Omar Bin Ahmed Al Marhoon, Sultanate’s Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Ali Bin Abdullah Bin Salim Al Mahrouqi, Sultanate’s Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania, Imad Bin Hamoud Bin Salim Al Abri, Sultanate’s Ambassador to the Federative Republic of Brazil, Najeeb Bin Yahya Bin Zirouk Al Balushi, Sultanate’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar, Dr. Adnan Bin Ahmed Bin Abdullah Al Ansari, Sultanate’s Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, Shaikh Al Abbas Bin Ebrahim Bin Hamad Al Harthy, Sultanate’s Ambassador to Malaysia.
The meeting was his second public appearance in October.
The ruler of Oman received Iran’s foreign minister on October 2, in a rare official appearance for the septuagenarian leader.
Sultan Qaboos, who is in his late 70s, was pictured in conversation with Iran’s Javad Zarif at Hisn Al Shumoukh.
The Oman News Agency (ONA) said Qaboos and Zarif discussed cooperation between the two countries and regional issues, but gave no further details.
Sultan Qaboos returned to Muscat on April 12, 2015, from Germany, where he had been undergoing periodical medical tests for certain conditions, which authorities said had been successfully treated.
Social media was abuzz with the sultan’s return, circulating news from Muscat International Airport, which went viral.
Sultan Qaboos had undergone eight months of medical treatment in Germany in July 2014.
In his four decades as ruler, Sultan Qaboos has transformed the small oil exporter from a poverty-stricken backwater region torn by dissent into a prosperous state, earning a reputation as a mediator seeking to ease periodic tensions between non-Arab Iran and Gulf Arab states.
