Muscat: Three students were arrested for being involved in an obscene video at one of the private schools in Muscat governorate, local media reported.

The video clip that went viral on social media platforms showed two teenage boys, in what was deemed an immoral act.

The video was recorded by a third boy who later sent it to his friends.

The incident is under investigation by the Public Prosecution.

In April, the Muscat Primary Court sentenced three teenagers to one year in prison each for being involved in an obscene video.

The court also slapped them with a 1,000 riyal fine.

In November of last year, an Omani was found guilty of posting revealing pictures of his girlfriend on Instagram and was sentenced to one month in jail and fined 2,000 riyals, half of which was rewarded to his ex-girlfriend for compensation.

The man admited he posted the pictures in anger after a fight they had.

Article 16 of Oman’s cyber law stipulates that anyone who publishes news or pictures of someone’s private life can be jailed and fined.
