Muscat: The Diwan of the royal court has assured Omani citizens that Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed is in good health, Oman News Agency (ONA) said yesterday.

The statement read: “The Diwan of Royal Court is honoured to reassure the loyal citizens of Oman that His Majesty Sultan Qaboos is in sound health after conducting medical tests, which His Majesty will continue over the coming period in accordance with a specific medical programme.

“The Sultan is spending his annual leave at his residence in Federal Republic of Germany from where he runs his country’s affairs, guiding and following up all tracks of development in different parts of the sultanate, as diligently as his loyal people know him, till such a time that he returns to his dear homeland and loving people,” the ONA said.

“The sultan has expressed his deep thanks and appreciation for the sincere sentiments and allegiance of his loyal people, praying to the Almighty to protect all under His divine care.”

Last month, Sultan Qaboos left on a private visit to Germany. At that time reports said the visit was partly a vacation and partly to undergo medical tests.

“Protected by Allah, His Majesty the Sultan will pay a private visit to the Federal Republic of Germany on 11th of Ramadan 1435 AH to spend his annual vacation and conduct some medical examinations,” a statement issued at the time said.

Social media in Oman has been flooded with messages of support for Sultan Qaboos and wishes for his early recovery. Many conducted special prayers for Sultan Qaboos during Ramadan.
