Muscat: Two Omani fishermen who went missing in the Sea of Oman were found by the Royal Oman Police (ROP) rescue team on Monday afternoon.

The two brothers, aged 30 and 40, had gone fishing on Sunday night according to their family.

An ROP official told Gulf News that the siblings were in stable condition.

They were rescued with the help of the ROP aviation and coast guard after their boat’s engine failed.

Meanwhile, rescue and search efforts are ongoing to find a nine-year-old girl who went missing at Shinas beach on Sunday. Civil Defence, ROP aviation, Oman Royal Navy and nationals are taking part in the search and rescue operation, an ROP official said. “We haven’t yet found the girl”, said the official.

Last week, a 12-year-old boy drowned in Musanah province when he went swimming.

Seven children drowned in 2014 alone, according to ROP figures.
