Muscat: Investigations are under way by the Royal Oman Police after a person of Arab nationality tried to smuggle bullets via Muscat International Airport.
The accused, who was travelling from an Arab country to Oman, hid the bullets inside his suitcase. According to the ROP statement, personnel at the customs department scanned his suitcase, which showed bullets tightly hidden inside.
An official at the ROP told Gulf News that the man’s motives were still unknown. The official added that such cases of smuggling bullets and guns into the country via the airport are very rare.
Similarly, an Omani national was arrested for trying to smuggle three guns through Muscat International Airport. The official stressed the need to read about banned items before travelling to avoid prosecution.
