Muscat: A hashtag under the title “report to the General Sultan Al Naamani” was trending in Oman after businessman Mudahir Al Tajir launched a series of tweets allegedly exposing senior officials in corruption cases, local media reported.

Mudahir Al Tajir, who is believed to be outside the country, published photos of himself posing with senior officials in the country. Al Tajir appealed for the General Sultan Al Naamani, minister of the Royal Court, to stand by his side to lift the “injustice” with him and to expose officials involved in corruption cases, as he claimed in his tweets. It is unknown what injustice he speaks of.

More than 40,000 people followed him on Twitter in two days. A number of journalists and Majlis Al Shura members, kept a close eye to Al Tajir tweets. Gulf News contacted Majlis Al Shura member, but he declined to comment, stressing that the competent authorities surely will follow the case.

Al Tajir owns a ceramic company in Barka province, one of the largest suppliers of tiles and sanitary materials.
