Muscat: Four-year-old Ghazl, a Jordanian girl who sustained burns after her father’s car caught fire in a petrol station is in critical condition, her father, Mohammad Sulaiman told Gulf News on Tuesday.

Seventy per cent of the little girl’s body is burned, while her brother Sulaiman’s body was burned 30 per cent.

The two siblings are currently being treated in Sur hospital. Sulaiman’s condition is improving but Ghazl’s situation remains dire as she suffered from heavy smoke inhalation.

The siblings were left unattended by their father as he went to buy some items from a nearby grocery store.

When the vehicle became engulfed in flames for unknown reasons, an Omani national nearby rescued the children from the burning car after he heard them screaming.

The father gave an emotional interview to Gulf News after the tragedy saying he would never forgive himself for what happened.

He warned other parents to not make his same mistake by leaving their children unattended.
