Muscat: Eid Al Fitr holidays in Oman for both the public as well as private sector will start from Wednesday (August 7). It will be a four-day holiday for both government and private sector employees if Eid falls on Thursday (August 8) but a six-day holidays if Friday (August 9) happens to be the first day of Eid.

Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed had issued a royal decree in April ordering equal holidays for both the public and private sectors during religious (Eid) and national holidays.

Thus, Sayyid Khalid Bin Hilal Bin Saud Al Bu Saidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Chairman of the Board of Civil Service for the government, and Shaikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Abdullah Al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, have made identical holiday announcements for both the sectors.

According to the announcement, Eid holidays will start from Wednesday (August 7) and if Eid falls on Thursday (August 8), work will resume on Sunday (August 11) and if Eid is on Friday (August 9), then holidays will be up to Monday (August 12) and work will resume on Tuesday (August 13).
