Muscat: A Bangladeshi worker sustained medium injuries after he was stabbed by a knife in the old Mutrah souq by unidentified person on Sunday, Oman Police has said.

The victim is still hospitalised in Khoula hospital and reported to be in stable health condition.

Investigation is underway and the culprit is still on the loose so far, according to Oman police.

The incident occurred when the perpetrator asked the victim about something and then stabbed him in his chest with a knife and fled the scene.

Local media reported that the culprit didn’t steal anything from the shop, where the victim worked as a tailor.

In July, a 50 year-old Indian worker was found murdered with his throat slit in also in the Mutrah province.

In June, a pregnant Omani woman was stabbed after she attacked her sister-in-law with a knife.

The pregnant woman stabbed her sister-in-law in the head with a knife and, defending herself, the latter grabbed a knife and stabbed her attacker.

The pregnant woman lost her baby due to the loss of blood.

Murder is rare in Oman. In 2015, only six murders were reported.
