Muscat: Seven expatriates workers sustained severe injuries after the ceiling of a house they were working on came down on them in Awqad area of Salalah province on Saturday.

First responders from the Public Authority of Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) rushed to scene and rescued the workers.

The injured workers were transferred to Salalah hospital where the condition of some of them was stated to be unstable, hospital sources told Gulf News.

An official at the PACDA said the failure to take proper safety steps like wearing helmets at building sites had resulted in the severe injuries to the workers.

On May 3, three people were killed in a wall collapse in Nakhal province when a wall built to bolster an old wall gave way.
