Muscat: Six people were on Tuesday waiting for the verdict of Muscat Primary Court over charges of forging several ministries seals as well as UAE currency.

Five of the accused, all Asians, are said to have forged seals for the Ministries of Health, Manpower and Foreign Affairs.

They allegedly used the seals for medical examination forms, manpower data forms and university certificates.

Two are also accused of forging UAE currency.

According to the Public Prosecution, the forged health cards, visa entry and university certificates were seized from the accused, after they were sold.

It transpired that two of the accused had entered the country illegally.

According to article 202 of the Omani Penal Law, anyone who forges official documents and currencies will be sentenced to three to ten years in jail.
