Muscat: Four people were killed on the spot in a head-on collision between a truck and a light vehicle on Izki-Sinaw road, north of Oman, on Saturday afternoon.
According to a Royal Oman Police source, the driver of the light vehicle while trying to overtake several vehicles collided head-on with a heavy truck coming in the opposite direction.
One of the victims was burned to death after the light vehicle caught fire under the impact of collision.
Three of the killed were Omanis and another was a Pakistani national.
According to ROP figures, 913 persons have died and 10,802 injured in 7,829 road accidents in 2013, while 1,139 were killed and 11,618 injured in 8,209 road accidents in 2012.
