Manama: A sister and a brother had a frightening brush with death when they fell off their jet ski and were carried by waves around three miles off the shore.

The siblings, from an Asian country, were found after the coastguards launched a massive search and rescue operation following a call from the jet ski rental workers in Bneid Al Qar beach area.

The workers alerted the civil defence that they found their motorised bike, but the two people who rented it were missing.

The rescuers succeeded in finding the girl first then found her brother at some distance from her, local daily Al Rai reported on Sunday.

The lucky siblings seemed to be in good condition, but the civil defence officers overseeing the operations insisted on taking them to a medical facility to make sure they fared well following the ordeal.

Jet ski rides are hugely popular in Kuwait and in the other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries – Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Both locals and expatriates see riding the motorised bikes that can seat two people among the best outdoor leisure activities.
