Manama: Kuwait Parliament Speaker Marzooq Al Ghanem scored twice to lead the teams of lawmakers to a new victory over the team of the government in a friendly football match.

The two sides have been taking on each other outside the parliament building in a Ramadan tradition that stretches several years.

The parliament players beat the government 3-2 in Ramadan last year.

The lawmakers dominated the game on Saturday evening and deservedly beat the government players who were the first to score thanks to a great effort by Khalid Al Radhwan, the minister of commerce and industry.

"The match is a great indication of the cordiality within the Kuwaiti society and we are all pleased to be part of the Ramadan games," Al Ghanem said in a statement following the match.

Prime Minister Shaikh Jaber Al Mubarek, Interior Minister Shaikh Khalid Al Jarrah, Finance Minister Anas Al Saleh and Public Works Minister Abdul Rahman Al Mutawa were among present at the game to cheer the government team.
