Manama: Anas Al Saleh, Kuwait’s deputy prime minister and finance minister, has been given charge of the oil portfolio as acting minister, in a limited cabinet reshuffle.

Ali Al Omair, who was the oil minister, will be the minister of public works and the state minister for parliament affairs, while Shaikh Mohammad Al Abdullah, the minister of cabinet affairs, will also be the acting minister for electricity and water, Kuwait News Agency (Kuna) reported on Sunday afternoon.

Al Omair has been facing for weeks opposition from within the oil sector.

In a separate decree, the resignation of Ahmad Al Jassar, the minister of public works and the minister of electricity and water, was accepted, Kuna said.
