Kuwait: The Kuwaiti government has handed in its resignation, and the Prime Minister has forwarded it to the Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, the Kuwaiti daily Al Jareeda reported on its website.

The resignation was expected amid reports that several lawmakers were preparing to grill ministers over perceived irregularities.

Tension also built up after the two sides failed to reach full agreement on several issues, including the reinstatement of revoked citizenships.

The current 50-member parliament was elected in November and several members, considered to be the opposition, ran on platforms claiming they would be strict in dealing with the government.
