Manama: A teacher on trial in Saudi Arabia on charges of belonging to Daesh has admitted trying to recruit some of his students for the terror group.
The teacher, who was not named, told the court in the Saudi capital Riyadh that he worked on propagating the Daesh ideology among students and within the school community.
However, he rejected the charges of storing pornographic videos and pictures on his personal computer, saying they were groundless.
He argued his computer was not new and he had bought it second hand. He said he was not aware porn pictures and videos were stored on the machine, Saudi daily Okaz reported on Monday.
The 12 charges included embracing the ideology that rejects the rulers of the country, the police and armed forces and propagating the extremist ideas of Daesh.
He was also found guilty of supporting the terror attacks that occurred in Saudi Arabia, including the suicide bombing of the Imam Ali mosque in the eastern part of the country.
Other charges were the use of the facilities of the school where he worked to propagate ideas and views supporting the terror group, opposing the state policy and its military operations against the Houthi militias in Yemen and inciting security men to leave the police and the army.
Saudi authorities have been actively engaged in fighting Daesh and its supporters in the kingdom.
Courts usually sentence guilty suspects to heavy prison terms.
