Manama: Bahrain’s Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa has said that the strong unity within the local community is underpinned by a shared commitment to supporting Bahraini values and the national identity.

The crown prince has been visiting evening majlises in various parts of the country and meeting people to discuss diverse issues.

Bahrainis, like numerous citizens from the other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries open their majlises after the last prayers throughout the month, helping to create a special community spirit.

“Ramadan Majlises have a great role in further enhancing unity among all people in the kingdom, and the exchange of visits during the holy month of Ramadan is an integral part of Bahraini values and traditions and works to promote principles of tolerance among all,” Prince Salman said this week.

Several ambassadors schedule visits to majlises, saying “they offer unique opportunities to meet a wide spectrum of people and to experience a special atmosphere.”

On Monday evening, as he visited three majlises, Prince Salman, also Bahrain’s First Deputy Prime Minister, said Islam was a religion of peace and highlighted its role in promoting tolerance and moderation.

Bahrain will continue to reinforce Islamic principles that embrace religious diversity, the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported him as saying.

The crown prince said the business community had a significant role in developing the kingdom’s economic and trade standings, and “emphasised the role of the private sector in supporting sustainable development, a key priority for government.”

On Sunday, he said at a majlis that the strong bonds among Bahrain’s communities have helped to protect the kingdom from the destabilising events across the region.

The Crown Prince said that Bahrainis are urged to continue to actively and positively contribute to the kingdom’s prosperity, in line with the reform and development programme of King Hamad.
