Manama: King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa has reaffirmed Bahrain’s positive contributions and constructive status in the international community.

“We praise [God] for enabling our Kingdom to have a glorious history filled with auspicious occasions and become a fully sovereign state that contributes positively and effectively to human civilisation,” King Hamad said.

“Bahrain believes in the principles of peace, harmony, coexistence and respect among nations and peoples and affirms its positive status within its Arab and Islamic world. It also endeavours to achieve a strong Arabian Gulf that boasts a unified determination and common goals,” King Hamad said in his address to the nation on Tuesday.

Bahrain is celebrating its National Days that mark the anniversary of the establishment of the modern state of Bahrain as an Arab, Muslim country in 1783 by its founder Ahmad Al Fateh, the 43rd anniversary of its accession to the UN as a full member and the 15th Anniversary of King Hamad’s Accession to the Throne.

“We recall the glorious endeavours of our forefathers in spreading the spirit of coexistence, tolerance and love among all the people of various faiths on this cherished land without distinction or discrimination,” he said.

“Today on the anniversary of these glorious occasions, we express our pride in the achievements accomplished by our beloved people who demonstrated in the recent parliamentary and municipal elections their high level of patriotism, loyalty and devotion to the nation and the constitution,” King Hamad said at the open-air ceremony.

The annual event was attended by the cabinet, senior officials and officers, diplomats, political and civil societies and the media.

“Today, we put our hands in yours, the hands of those who believe in building, progress, freedom, tolerance and coexistence,” he said.
