Manama: The recent enactment of 31 laws to enhance Bahrain’s economic environment and regulatory frameworks is a major part of King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa’s commitment to the Kingdom’s long-term diversification and sustainability efforts, the crown prince has said.

The laws have resulted in significant improvements across a range of areas, including processes and procedures related to urban development, Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa said as he highlighted the extensive collaboration between the Legislative and Executive authorities in developing them.

The crown prince, who is also Bahrain’s First Deputy Prime Minister, said that a top priority for Bahrain in the near term is to strengthen the private sector’s role in driving economic growth, while the kingdom works in parallel to transform the public sector’s role into a dynamic regulator.

Addressing guests at the Ramadan majlises he visited on Saturday evening, the Crown Prince emphasised the importance of continuing to develop strategies that promote innovation across a range of sectors in order to create high quality opportunities for Bahrain’s youth, a strategic goal of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

He also highlighted King Hamad’s long-standing commitment to Bahrain’s youth development programme, which continues to provide wide-ranging skills development and opportunities for all young Bahrainis, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

Bahrain’s youth will play a highly significant role in advancing Bahrain’s economic diversification and sustainability, and representing the kingdom’s progress abroad, he added.

The Crown Prince said that a series of public, private, and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) investment projects were currently in the pipeline, “which will demonstrate the wide potential and positive effects that public-private partnerships can have on Bahrain’s economy”.

The GCC, established in 1981, comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Prince Salman has been regularly visiting majlises since the start of the month, in keeping with the local tradition to use the evenings of the auspicious month to strengthen social bonds.

On Saturday, he visited the majlises of Nabeel Bin Yaqoob Al Hamar, Advisor of Media Affairs to the King and Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Nuaimi.
