Manama: King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa and the Moroccan monarch Mohammad VI have condemned Iran’s interference in the domestic affairs of Bahrain and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries as well as its support to terrorism.

The two monarchs, meeting in Bahrain where King Mohammad on Monday started a visit, stressed the importance of integrating Arab and international efforts to combat terrorism that is threatening the security and stability of states and putting international peace at risk.

Other international issues addressed by the two leaders included the latest developments in Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Libya.

King Hamad and King Mohammad welcomed the outcome of the GCC-Morocco summit held last week in the Saudi capital Riyadh and which stressed the depth of the relations and cooperation between the countries, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

The GCC, established in 1981, comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

King Hamad expressed Bahrain’s full support to the integrity of the Moroccan territories and its rejection of any attempt against its lands. Bahrain supported the efforts exerted by Morocco to settle the conflict in the Moroccan Sahara, the official news agency added.

At the bilateral level, the two leaders reiterated their commitment to strengthening relations, consolidating cooperation and continuing consultations “in a way that serves their shared interests.”

Two protocols and an executive cooperation agreement were signed between the two countries in the presence of the two leaders.

Bahrain’s Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Al Khalifa and Moroccan Minister of Economy and Finance Mohammad Bousaid signed a protocol amending a 2000 agreement on avoidance of double taxation and fiscal evasion.

Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid Bin Ali Al Khalifa and Moroccan Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ahmad Al Tawfiq signed an executive cooperation programme for the years 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Shaikh Khalid and Moroccan Minister of Justice and Liberties Mustafa Ramid signed a cooperation protocol between Bahrain’s Judicial and Legal Studies Institute and Moroccan Institut Superieure de La Magistrature.
