Manama: Bahrain has halted all flights to and from Iran, one day after Manama said that it was breaking off ties with Tehran.

The Civil Aviation said that based on the announcement of the Kingdom of Bahrain on Monday that it severed diplomatic relations with Iran, the national carrier, Gulf Air, and the other carriers have been directed to halt all flights from and to Iran.

The Civil Aviation said that the national carrier would take all the necessary measures to ensure that passengers with booked flights are not affected.

Most lawmakers on Tuesday morning pushed for a ban on trade, sea and air links with Iran despite calls by some MPs not to rush into such a decision.
