Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday advised Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to face the trial like he (Imran) did — if allegations levelled against the CM by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Ashiana Housing Scheme are false.

The PTI chief was referring to the disqualification case against him filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s Hanif Abbasi in which the Supreme Court gave the verdict in the PTI chief’s favour.

Lashing out at the Punjab CM, the PTI chief tweeted: “Why is SS [Sharif] crying about victimisation already? I faced probe for one year in the SC despite never holding any public office so why is SS attacking NAB? If he is clean he should face all charges like I did and disprove them.”

On Monday, the Punjab CM after appearing before the NAB said allegations levelled against him by the bureau were false and the summons for him to appear before the anti-corruption watchdog was based on ill-intentions, yet he decided to appear before it as he strongly believed in the rule of law.

Imran Khan said the NAB’s investigation into other projects initiated by Shehbaz Sharif would uncover more scams.

“Shehbaz Sharif’s Ashiana housing scam is tip of iceberg. Much bigger scams will be uncovered once probe by NAB starts on sasti roti, metros, esp orange train where the contract has been kept under wraps, massive kickbacks in Punjab road construction contracts, Danish schools etc,” he tweeted.
