Islamabad: Annual financial grants to bar associations should be released by the federal government at the earliest to improve the judicial system, said Syed Mohammad Tayyab, President of Islamabad Bar Association (IBA), in a letter addressed to the Federal Law minister.

He said that for the last few years, bar associations across the country are not being given the financial support needed, which is negatively affecting their performance.

“The role of Bar Associations towards the dispensation of justice and legal systems is of great significance,” Tayyab said. The lawyers are a strong pillar of [the] judicial system”, he added.

He said that the legal system can be improved with a two-pringed approach that works on both the bar and the bench.

The president of IBA said it is the primary duty of the state to solve the problems of lawyers to achieve the goals of dispensation of cheap and quick justice to each and every citizen.

He added lawyers of the federal capital have been working without a proper judicial complex for a long time and the courts are functioning in rented buildings.
