Lahore: Provincial Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah has said a DNA Act will be put together to curb the physical abuse of children.

He said this while presiding over a meeting of a 20-member committee formed for the protection of children and the elimination of crimes against them at civil secretariat on Saturday.

He said that under the DNA Act, thorough DNA data would be formulated so that the accused involved in physical abuse of children could be quickly identified.

He said the data would be saved in Forensic Science Agency, adding that the agency had already a huge capacity of saving data.

He said: ”Children are our future and the government would [leave] no stone unturned for their protection”.

The minister said that Zainab was a daughter of the nation and the culprits involved in the crime would be taken to task.

The meeting discussed existing laws related to children and various recommendations to avoid such incidents in future.

Rana Sanaullah formulated two committees which had been given a task to prepare final recommendations in one week.

He said these recommendations would be presented to the chief minister and after his approval the implementation on the recommendations would be ensured.

Earlier, the Inspector General (IG) Police Punjab Capt (retd) Arif Nawaz Khan said modern methods of investigation should be used to resolve Zainab’s murder case at the earliest.

He added that DNA tests of all the suspects should be taken besides ensuring cooperation of the National Database and Registration-related information so that the culprit could be punished.

He expressed these views while addressing police officers in a session of Zainab murder case at the IG House.

Joint Investigation Team head Regional Passport Officer (RPO) Multan Mohammad Idrees, RPO Sheikhupura Zulfqar Hameed, District Police Officer Kasur Zahid Nawaz Murawwat and other officers of JIT were also present.

Some officers also attended the session via video link, while Addl IG Operations Amir Zulfqar Khan, Addl IG Investigation Abu Bakar Khuda Bakhsh, AIG Legal Abdul Rab and AIG Monitoring Ahsan Yunis were present.

JIT Head M. Idrees and other members briefed the IG about the current situation and details of Zainab murder case and all aspects of the murder were discussed in details.
