Hyderabad: A Hyderabad court has acquitted two accused in the case of killing a police constable as the special investigation team of Hyderabad police could not prove its charges. The two acquitted persons Riyaz Khan and Mohammad Abdul Sayeed were accused in the case along with one Viqar Ahmad and four others. Viqar Ahmad and four others were killed in an “encounter” by the police while they were being brought from Warangal jail to a court in Hyderabad in April 2015.

The case in which the court acquitted the accused related to the killing of a police constable U Ramesh in firing in the old city of Hyderabad in 2010.

Police had alleged that the accused were members of a shadowy organisation Ghalbae Islam and had murdered the constable to avenge the police firing near Makkah Masjid in which five people were killed.

While the names of Viqar and four others were removed from the charge sheet after their death, the two accused were acquitted after seven years in jail.

The families of Viqar and four others had alleged that the police had killed them in fake encounter as they did not have any evidence of the charges and they were likely to be acquitted by the court.

This is second case in which Viqar and others have been acquitted. Earlier they were charged with killing a home guard Bala Swamy but it could not be proved in the court.
