May 7: A Dalit groom is allegedly beaten up for “daring” to take a ride in a decorated car to his wedding venue, in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh. Six others of the wedding party were also thrashed.
July: In Marathwada district, Maharashtra, the state administration fails to designate a place to be used for cremation and as burial ground by members of the Dalit community.
September 25: Piyush Parmar, 25, reportedly beaten up by members of the Rajput community in Gujarat.
September 29: Krunal Magheria, 30, physically assaulted at a village in Gujarat for reportedly sporting a moustache.
September 30: Five Dalits assaulted at a Vijaya Dasami procession in Belur, Karnataka.
October 1: A 21-year-old Dalit man allegedly beaten to death by a group of men belonging to the upper caste Patel community for attending a garba event (dance performed during Navratri celebrations) in Gujarat.
October 3: Digant Magheria, a 17-year-old man, is attacked by two men on a motorcycle at a village in Gujarat. The victim’s back is slashed with a blade.
