Patna:  They were beaten up, face blackened, head shaved and paraded through the streets for falling in love.

Two youngsters from Mankarwa village in East Champaran district in Bihar had to undergo the torture because they fell in love.

One of the victims who was in love with a local girl had gone to meet her in the village along with his friend but both were caught midway by the local villagers who also gave them a sound beating.

They were very soon presented at a hurriedly-convened village court, which ordered for their tonsuring and parading in the village with their faces blacked. The village also imposed a fine of Rs1,100 on each of the two victims.

Subsequently, their heads were haphazardly shaven and faces blackened after which they were paraded through the streets in the village. Both the students are said to be missing after the incident.  

The incident came to light after some local villagers made a video of the entire act and then posted on the social media, which soon wet viral. Police are now investigating the case although no arrest has been made so far.

“We have come to know about the incident through the social media and are investigating the case,” a local deputy superintendent of police Dinesh Kumar Pandey told the media today.
