Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has suspended its Member of Legislative Council Deepak Reddy over his alleged involvement in a massive land scam in Hyderabad.

Deepak Reddy was arrested by Hyderabad police last week on the serious charges of forgery, cheating and criminal conspiracy to grab prime lands worth hundreds of millions in the city.

Police investigations revealed that Deepak Reddy had raised big loans from banks on the basis of documents of illegally acquired lands.

The decision to suspend him was taken at the state coordination meeting of TDP in Amaravati Thursday. The meeting was chaired by party president N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Deepak Reddy is the son-in-law of TDP MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy.

Briefing the media state TDP president Kala Venkat Rao said the meeting also discussed the land scam in port city of Visakhapatanam and decided to get the matter probed by a Special Investigation Team.
