Patna Children have forced their fathers to quit the drinking habit in seconds!

Angry children with schoolbags took to the streets, shouted slogans against their dads and refused to go to school on Tuesday until they swear in public that they will never consume alcohol in future, leaving their guardians stunned. It was only after their fathers agreed to their demand that they left for schools. The matter pertains to Bhagnatand village which falls under Sariya block in Giridih district of Jharkhand state, some 250 km south of Patna.

As per reports, the poor children were extremely disturbed and upset at their fathers routinely causing ruckus in the family under the impact of liquor. They tried to convince their parents to quit drinking but it all ended in smoke.

Irked at their behavior, the children finally chalked out a plan to bring their dads on the right track. Under part of their plan, the little children led by Pawan Singh, a Grade two student, came out of their homes and refused to attend their school on Tuesday. The children who were enrolled in a local New Carmel School refused to budge from their stand and declared not to attend classes until their family members quit drinking.

“We are frustrated at the routine quarrels in the family which embarrass us a lot. They (guardians) hardly care about us and meet our teaching demands but fritter money on buying alcohol,” complained a Grade two student Pawan who led the protest.

The stories about the striking children soon reached the schoolteachers who rushed to the spot and asked their parents to take note of their wards’ demand. Embarrassed, the parents promised before the teachers not to drink in future. It was then that the children lifted their protest and left for school.

“It’s unbelievable. I have not come across such stories in my whole lifetime,” a local education department official R Dangi remarked.
