Hyderabad: Another police officer in the same police station of Siddipet district in Telangana has shot himself to death.

Sub-inspector Prabhakar Reddy committed suicide early on Wednesday by shooting himself in the head with his service revolver. He died on the spot.

His family members alleged harassment by senior officials had driven the policeman to take the extreme step.

Reddy’s suicide marks the second such incident in less than a year in the residential quarters of Kukkunurupally police station under Kondapaka Mandal of Siddipet.

On August 16, 2016 police sub-inspector Ramakrishna Reddy killed himself with his service revolver in the same quarters, under the same circumstances.

Prabhakar Reddy’s blood-soaked body was found in his chair. He was in his uniform at the time of committing suicide.

Prabahakar Reddy had taken over as the SI of Kukkunurapally police station after Ramakrishna Reddy’s suicide. Ramakrishna’s family had also alleged that he was facing harassment from his higher ups specially a DSP.

Prabhakar Reddy who hailed from Tungatur village near Bhongir in Yadadri district was selected as Sub Inspector of police in 2012 and served in various police stations including Shamirpet and Malkajgiri.

Ramakrishna Reddy also belonged to the same district as Prabhakar Reddy.

Ramakrishna Reddy who had earlier worked in the Indian army and fought the Kargil War with Pakistan had left behind a three page note blaming higher ups including DSP Sridhar. However the DSP denied the allegation.

Though a high level inquiry was ordered nothing came out of it.
