Hyderabad: Hyderabad continues to be rocked by the activities of drug mafia as the police busted one more Nigerian-led gang involved in the supply of narcotics for rave parties.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said four people, including a Nigerian national, Gabriel, were arrested and a large quantity of drugs seized. The gang was sourcing the drugs from Pune and Goa and supplying in Hyderabad, he said.
“Ankit Pandey, Nuka Naviyant and Ganat Kumar were the others arrested while another member, Pawan Kumar Reddy, had absconded,” the commissioner said.
Five grams of cocaine, 60 grams of ganja, 60 doses of LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide also known as acid), 40 grams of MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy) and other substances were seized from them.
Police said the module had links with other gangs including the one led by Calvin Mascarenhas, which had a large network of drug suppliers to the Telugu film industry.
Gabriel had come to Hyderabad on a student visa, police said.
“We have identified six clients of the gang. The gang had planned a big rave party in Goa on August 15. It also had links with the film industry,” Bhagwat said.
The latest bust has come on the top of the arrest of more than 20 drug peddlers and questioning of 12 Telugu film celebrities bringing the grim reality to the fore that the city has become hub for drugs, which had left hundreds of young students and MNCs employees addicted.
