Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who was disappointed with the paltry allocations to Andhra Pradesh in the Union budget, has warned his alliance partner BJP that if any party fails to provide good governance, the people will reject it. “The results of by-elections in Rajasthan are a proof of it”, he told a party meeting in Amravati on Friday.
Addressing a Telugu Desam coordination committee meeting, Naidu asked why the Centre neglected Andhra Pradesh while making bigger allocations for Karnataka, Mumbai and Bengaluru. “The party MPs and the leaders were wondering how in this kind of situation can we go to the people,” he added.
The focus of the meeting was on the injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh. “We are not in a position even to celebrate the state formation day,” Naidu said. He recalled that due to the injustice at the time of bifurcation, the 125-year-old Congress party was wiped out from the state. “Congress party conspired with KCR in Telangana and Jagan in Andhra to divide the state arbitrarily. It was done to weaken Telugu Desam party”.
Naidu defended his decision to tie up with the BJP before the 2014 elections, saying, “As the state had suffered massive losses due to the bifurcation, we decided to have an alliance with the BJP with a view that better relations with Centre will be helpful for the state”.
Other leaders including ministers speaking at the meeting said that the state BJP leaders were under the false impression that they had fulfilled all the promises made to the state before the last elections.
