Hyderabad: Hyderabad police have solved the mystery of the suicide by a beautician A Vijayalakshmi alias Srisha and arrested her employer Rajiv Kumar Vallabhnaini and another friend Shravan Kumar. A case of driving the girl to suicide was booked against the two.

The case had turned sensational after it came to light the suicide by a sub-inspector of police A Prabhakar Reddy was also linked to the incident.

Hyderabad police commissioner Mahinder Reddy told a press conference on Friday that while working as a beautician at Rajiv’s RJ Studio, 28-year-old Srisha and Rajiv had developed a romantic relationship, which got physical.

While Srisha was married and a had a daughter, Rajiv also had a girlfriend — Tejaswini.

The rivalry between the two women led to a feud. It was to settle this dispute that another friend Shravan Kumar had taken them to Kaukkanur police station, Sub-inspector Prabhakar Reddy’s quarters, on Monday night.

The police investigation revealed that the four had consumed liquor at the SI’s quarter in Kukkanurpally that night and it was followed by some trouble.

While Rajiv, Srisha and Shravan were returning to Hyderabad a hysterical Srisha tried to jump out of the vehicles. To control her Rajiv slapped her. In the scuffle she suffered injuries.

After reaching Rajiv’s studio in the wee hours of Tuesday in the city, Srisha went into the building and locked the door from inside.

While the two men were outside she called Rajiv on video phone and threatened to hang herself. By the time the two could rush and break open the door Srisha had hanged herself from the ceiling fan.

The forensic experts, after a post-mortem concluded, that Srisha had indeed committed suicide though there were some injuries on her body. However no evidence of sexual abuse was found.

Meanwhile on coming to know about Srisha’s suicide the SI called up Rajiv and asked him not to drag his name into the controversy.

Next day, in the wee hours of Wednesday Prabhakar Reddy also committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver in his quarters.

After a separate probe the additional director-general of police Gopikrishna concluded that Prabhakar Reddy had committed suicide due to stress as somebody had threatened him over phone that he would be arrested in the Srisha case.

Police were going through the call records to see who had called him before his suicide.

In view of the sensitive nature of the case the DGP Anurag Sharma was supervising the probe and was likely to brief the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
