Hyderabad: The controversy arising out of an additional judge’s warning against the use of loudspeakers in mosques in Nizamabad district was resolved after the district judge held discussions with the judge concerned, top police officials and leaders of the minority community.

The controversy erupted in Armoor town, 25km away from the district headquarter Nizamabad, when the additional judge Bhaskar Goud issued a warning to all the mosques in the town of booking cases if they continue to use the loudspeakers.

The threats of the judge caused a stir in the entire district and the office bearers of several mosque committees and leaders of various organisations including Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and Jamiatul Ulema lodged a complaint with the police commissioner Kartikya. MIM’s legislator Ahmad Pasha Quadri also spoke to him over the phone and apprised him of the concern of the community over the unusual action of the judge of visiting the mosques and issuing warnings.

Amid the growing tension Nizamabad district’s K Sujana, along with other magistrates and Kartikya, visited Armoor and held discussions with the additional judge. They also held talks with the representatives of the local Muslims and recorded their statements.

Later G Sujana assured the minority community that the judiciary had no intention of interfering in the religious matters of any community and the instructions against loudspeakers were not aimed only at mosques but for all the religious places as part of efforts to curb noise pollution.

The police commission also assured that such incidents will not recur.
