Patna: A man in Bihar clubbed his wife to death simply because she took a little more time in serving food to him, officials said on Monday.
The incident took place in Muzaffarpur district, some 80km north of Patna, sending shock waves.
As per reports, Subodh Rai, 55, reached his home after a morning stroll on Sunday and asked his wife Krishna Devi, 50, to serve breakfast soon but she took some time in cooking food.
“The delay in serving food led to a heated argument between them after which the accused picked up a brick in his hand and hit her hard on her head, killing her on the spot,” the victim’s son Rishi Kumar told local police.
The police have arrested the accused and sent him to jail. The accused had earlier killed his brother in a similar fashion and was currently on bail.
The entire matter came to light after the accused himself told the family members about how he murdered his wife. What surprised them the most was the way the accused showed no remorse for his actions and had even taken bath shortly after committing the crime.
“The police have arrested the accused and are interrogating him for more details but he is not revealing much,” a local police official Rajesh Chaudhary told the local media on Monday.
The incident follows another such crime on Saturday where a man strangulated his three-year-old son and then set him alight after he refused to serve him water. The incident took place in the same Muzaffarpur district.
Last month, a man from eastern Bihar’s Purnia district had ruthlessly killed his two-year-old son apparently irritated at his cries disturbing him in sleep. After killing his son, the accused once again went to sleep. Victim’s body was later recovered from a nearby rivulet.
