Patna: Police in Bihar have arrested the son of a ruling party lawmaker after he allegedly stabbed a man when he dared to overtake his car in a latest incident of road rage.

The incident took place near Daudnagar, a small town in southern Bihar’s Aurangabad district, late Friday night.

Police said Pintu Kumar Yadav was returning home last night when he overtook the car of Kunal Pratap, son of a lawmaker. In a fit of rage, Kunal who was travelling with his friends, overtook the bike, caught the biker and stabbed him on several parts of his body before fleeing the scene.

The victim with stab injuries was soon rushed to a local hospital from where he was referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital located in the state capital as his condition turned critical.

Kunal is the son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) lawmaker Birendra Sinha who represents Obra seat in Bihar assembly. In swift action, police arrested the accused after a late-night raid.

“We have arrested the accused and are interrogating him. Action will be taken if [he’s] found guilty,’ local Aurangabad district superintendent of police Satya Prakash told the media today.

Last week, a youth was killed in Nalanda district of Bihar after he did not give way to a gangster’s son. Nalanda is the home district of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar. Earlier in May this year, Rocky Yadav, son of another ruling party lawmaker Manorama Devi had shot dead a teenager Aditya Sachdeva when he dared to overtake his car.

The incident which took place in Gaya district of Bihar sparked strong protests, prompting the state government to put the case on speedy trial. Right now, the accused Rocky Yadav is lodged in jail and police have already filed a charge-sheet in the case.
