Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad’s younger son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav was on Friday appointed the deputy chief minister in the Nitish Kumar government minutes after he was administered the oath by Governor Ram Nath Kovind.

Tejashwi who made his political debut in this poll was also allocated three key portfolios of Road, Building Construction Department and Backward and Extremely Backward Welfare department by the chief minister Nitish Kumar later in the evening.

Three portfolios were also handed to Tejashwi’s elder brother, Tej Pratap Yadav. They include — Health, Minor irrigation and Environment.

The other key portfolio of Finance went to another RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui while energy department was assigned to JD-U leader Bijendra Yadav. The chief minister kept for himself the key portfolios of Home, General Administration, and Information & Public Relations Department.
