Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is going to celebrate the third anniversary of his rule in a couple of months, has exuded confidence that his Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) party will retain power in 2019.

At a mid-term review with the party’s legislators in Hyderabad, a confident KCR quoted the findings of his own internal survey to declare that the TRS will win 101 to 106 seats in the 119-member state assembly on the basis of its good performance and support of the people.

He counted on the 19.5 per cent economic growth rate of Telangana, making it the fastest state growing in the country, among the big achievements of his government.

He also gave the legislators findings of another survey on their performance and popularity rating which gave the top position to the Chief Minister. According to the survey, the Chief Minister had a popularity rating of 96.7 per cent in his Gajwel constituency, up from the earlier rating of 75 per cent. T Harish Rao, the irrigation minister, came second with 82 per cent in his constituency of Siddipet.

However, KCR’s son and a key minister, K Taraka Rama Rao, had only 60 per cent support in his Sricilla constituency.

While noting that the TRS had become very strong and consolidated its position on the basis of the government performance, the Chief Minister warned the legislators to pull up their socks and continue their good work.

In view of the budget session of the state assembly, he asked all the legislators to be present in the House and come half an hour before the commencement of the session every day and acquaint themselves of the issues and problems and highlight the achievements of the government on the floor of the House.

He warned that legislators with poor performance records would not be given tickets in the next elections.
