Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala businessman Mohammed Nisham, who is undergoing life imprisonment for the murder of a security guard at a residential building, is now believed to be having a comfortable time in prison.

Local media reported that Nisham is well looked after in the prison in Kannur, apparently with the knowledge of police officials, and even has free access to multiple phones.

Reports also say that the 40-year-old businessman is permitted the luxury of being accompanied by his assistants from his business empire while he is taken to different places for investigation of cases.

Nisham is facing multiple cases, including that of permitting his nine-year-old son to drive a Ferrari and for posting it on social media. He was convicted in January this year of the murder of a security guard, Chandrabos, at a residential apartment in Thrissur.

Meanwhile, Nisham’s brothers have complained to police that he has been issuing death threats against them over the phone, from the prison. One of his brothers has lodged the complaint with the recordings of his phone conversation, and the mobile numbers from which they received the calls.

Nisham’s brother, Abdul Razak, who is also a partner with Nisham in the ‘King’ beedi company, has complained to the Thrissur district police chief about the threats from Nisham over the phone.

Razak has complained that Nisham is conducting business from the Kannur jail, calling up workers in the beedi unit and intervening in business affairs of the company, “causing problems for the partners”.

Razak has also complained that Nisham was getting VIP treatment in the jail and that he had threatened to attack Razak using the help of prisoners in Kannur jail with whom he had acquaintance.
