Patna: A woman in Bihar leading the life of a “widow” just could not believe her eyes — her husband had returned home after 25 years.
Rambriksha Sharma, 55, a resident of Korauni village under Singhwara block in Darbhanga district, left for Nepal in search of livelihood.
The family members were happy that they would get financial support from the man but they panicked when they got no communication from him.
The man was suffering from serious brain-related ailments, so they had feared the worst when they got no news.
Subsequently, the family members launched extensive searches for him but failed to get any clues about his whereabouts.
With each passing year their hopes faded but they turned totally hopeless after the deadly April 2015 Nepal earthquake, which left around 9,000 people dead and more than 22,000 seriously injured.
The utter desperation gripping the family was such that his wife Rajkumari Devi began leading the life of a “widow” with vermilion symbolising the sign of a married woman missing from her and forehead. The realisation that he is “no more” also dawned on other family members.
On Sunday, however, everyone in the family was left utterly surprised when they found the man standing before them at home.
“At first I couldn’t believe it, but when he explained he is the same man who left his home 25 years back, my joy knew no bounds. Not even in my wildest dream I had thought he was alive … I don’t know how to thank the God,” the woman said Wednesday.
According to the man, he got the job of a carpenter when he reached Nepal but its owner made him a bonded labourer and didn’t allow him to go out.
“He [shop owner] didn’t pay the money for my work. Somehow I fled the shop with the help of a local Nepalese national and reached home,” Sharma told the local media.
He said he had only faint memory of his home and lost his way back. “Eventually, I reached there after seeking frequent help from the people on way,” he revealed.
Anyway, the entire family is happy to have the man whom they presumed to be “dead”.
