New Delhi: Haryana police on Friday issued a “lookout notice” for Honeypreet Insan, adopted daughter of the Dera Sacha Sauda chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, for sedition, instigating violence and conspiring to free Singh after his rape conviction last week.

Airports, bus and railway stations across the country have been put on high alert.

“Honeypreet is believed to have conspired to free Ram Rahim from the security cover that was given custody of the Dera chief after his rape conviction. She also gave a signal to Dera followers to instigate violence after self-styled godman’s conviction,” Haryana Deputy Commissioner of Police Manbir Singh told media.

Red bag

Soon after he was declared guilty by the special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on August 25, Singh demanded a red bag saying he had it from Dera headquarters in Sirsa, Haryana, to keep his clothes.

“Ram Rahim demanded the red bag. He said his clothes were in it. Actually it was a signal for his men to spread the news of his conviction among supporters so that they could resort to causing disturbance,” Panchkula Inspector General of Police KK Rao told Gulf News.

The police got suspicious as Singh and Honeypreet kept lingering in the court corridors after the verdict. They were allegedly waiting for their supporters to collect near the court premises.

 Board the helicopter

Haryana state government is also looking into how Honeypreet was allowed to board the helicopter that took Singh out of Panchkula court to Rohtak jail.

“We are looking into serious allegations of a conspiracy to free Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh after he was convicted in rape case on August 25,” Panchkula Police Commissioner AS Chawla told media on Friday.

Honeypreet describes herself thus on Twitter, “Papa’s angel, philanthropist, director, editor, actress and passionate to transform my rock star papa’s directions into actions”. She claims to be an actor, director and editor, who has assisted her “guru papa” in his film ventures.

'Lookout notice'

Meanwhile, a similar “lookout notice” has also been issued for Dera spokesperson Aditya Insan. He is also charged with inciting violence after Singh’s conviction.

Earlier, five Haryana policemen who were part of Dera chief’s security were charged with sedition and dismissed from service.

Singh’s conviction led to widespread rioting, which left 38 Dera members dead from clashes with police and 120 injured. On August 28, Singh was sentenced to 20 years in jail for rape.
