New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a woman in Mumbai has been arrested for hiring contract killers to eliminate her son for raping her and a dozen other women in Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Ramcharan Ramdas Dwivedi, 21, was addicted to drugs and sex. According to sources in police, Dwivedi raped several women, including his own mother and stepmother. Unable to bear the torture, his mother convinced her elder son Sitaram to kill him.

“The woman gave Rs50,000 for the murder to two friends of Sitaram. On August 20, Sitaram and his friends took Ramcharan in a tempo from Bhayandar and brought him to a mine in Vasai around 2pm. They slashed his throat and escaped from the spot after throwing his dead body in the mine,” the sources added.

Dwivedi’s body was found the next day but he could not be identified till September 14.

“On August 21, the Waliv cops were informed about a dead body floating in the quarry water located at Janki Pada in Nallasopara East. The deceased’s throat was slit and three tattoos etched on the arm were the only identification cops had,” Anil Akde, senior police officer, Vasai, told media on Tuesday.

When the cops questioned Dwivedi’s mother Rajni Ramdas Dwivedi about why she did not file a missing complaint, she failed to give a convincing reply. Finding her incoherent and nervous, the police grilled her further till she admitted to committing the crime.

“She revealed the entire plan. Based on her admission, we picked up the other three accused. We have arrested four accused under section Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code. They were produced before the court and remanded in police custody. They have confessed to their crime,” Akde added.
